So I Maybe a few months behind, nonetheless, I was writing about the Eurovision and a friend mentioned to me about a singer name Jessie J. If Jessie J would have sang for the UK they would have won. So in my curiosity when she mentioned that I checked out who Jessie J was. I listened to the first song on YouTube which was “Who You Are “. Instantly I said, “Oh mein Gott”. This young lady voice is powerful it hit you right in the heart. Well at least in minds. Afterward I read her bio and it is the same young lady who sang the song I like “Do it like a Dude”. I thought that she was American but she is not. She is from the UK. If it was not for my friend I would not really know who this songstress was. I would just knew “Do it like a Dude” and nothing more.
Jessie J is the stage name of Jessica Ellen Cornish who is an English singer and songwriter. She was born March 27, 1988, went to Collins Performing Arts School as a child, and when she was 11 she was cast in Andrew Lloyd Weber’s musical “Whistle Down the Wind”. When she was 17 she joined a girl group and soon afterward she was signed as a solo artist to Gut Records. The record company went bankrupt before she released an album but that did not stop her. When Jessie’s first record deal didn’t work out, she turned to songwriting and got herself a contract with Sony ATV where she started writing hit songs for Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, and Alicia Keyes. Her biggest songwriting hit was Miley Cyrus’ song Party in the USA”. It is funny we listen to singers sing hit jams but never think about the writers. Behind a star their is always another star which make the bigger star shine brighter.
Her hit song that charted number 2 “Do It Like a Dude” was written for Rihanna but she decided to keep it for herself. Smart girl. Got to start somewhere and step out into the light and shine for herself.
