Kaliopy’s Artist Month: Jamison Sarteschi

An Inside Look Into Jamison Sarteschi

Jamison Sarteschi

Deconstruction denotes the pursuing of the meaning of a text to the point of exposing the supposed contradictions and internal oppositions upon which it is founded, supposedly showing that those foundations are irreducibly complex, unstable, impossible, yet down right preposterously entertaining.

Fantasy versus reality, love versus lies, in the end what denotes the truth is whatever gets the most votes, or so they say.  A circle of friends or a ring of fire, it’s sometimes hard to tell. It’s the way we allow reality to coalesce with the oracle of fantastical values that has led us up to the beautiful disaster that we like to refer to as Pop Culture.

Jamison Sarteschi

Through the manipulation of bold colors, eclectic imagery and a jocund sense of vigilance my work stands to examine and dissect everything about the pop sea that we love, hate, devour and wildly recycle endlessly. Each series of work combines radical notions that parade a brash higher truth, or at least a what if. This is my deconstruction of human nature at a playful cost. In doing so, I indulge in taking away the power or function of humanity and instead give significance to otherwise underprivileged, inanimate objects. Besides, it’s not what you know but what you have.
